This is a such a great place for fish and chips that we make the drive of over an hour from Dixon. At our last visit a few weeks ago I found a jackpot on the menu that I never noticed before. They have HUSH PUPPIES!!! I grew up on southern food and hush puppies were a treat that my mom made once in a while. Since she passed away I haven't hade a good one. I was so happy that they not only had them, but they were just like my mom's. The other plus is that none of the fried food tastes greasy. They use a lighter oil and it's fresh plus they keep their fryers clean. I spoke to our server and she filled me in after I asked how they keep everything from tasting greasy.
I HIGHLY reccommend Pelican's Roost if you want great fish and chips and some southern style hush puppies.
